The story behind the look

Designer Natalie Candrian’s portfolio identifies the English rose as the inspiration for Sharapova’s 2010 Wimbledon dress. Her original sketch shows the overlapping panels that carry the idea from the bodice down through the skirt.

The tournament photograph confirms the white layered competition dress. The reconstruction follows those petal-like edges and fitted waist; rear construction remains an inference because the selected historical photograph shows the front.
