Scuba lines on clay

Black, grey panels and laser-cut ventilation framed a technical clay-court dress.

The story behind the look

Caroline Wozniacki and Garbiñe Muguruza wore the black adidas by Stella McCartney Barricade dress at Roland Garros in 2018. The WTA’s tournament fashion coverage described its laser cuts, flared skirt and scuba-style zipper. Dark fabric gave the design a particularly clear outline against Paris’s red clay.

Grey side panels traced the fitted torso, while perforations and inserts carried the ventilation through the racerback design. The WTA identified Climachill moisture management as a feature of the dress. This edition shows McCartney’s familiar shaping techniques in a restrained palette, with the zip and cutouts providing its strongest graphic details.
