The story behind the look

Townsend’s navy-and-orange sequin look paid tribute to HBCU drumline style, with colours drawn from Morgan State University.

Anthony Lattimore’s design gives the fitted bodice a strong graphic structure, then releases it into a plain sequinned skirt. This reconstruction shows the sleeveless playing dress; the separate fringed shoulder layer visible in the full-length photograph is not included. Rear construction is inferred.
