The story behind the look

Sharapova opened Wimbledon in a white tuxedo-inspired ensemble rather than a conventional dress. The semi-sheer sleeveless shirt used a pleated bib and covered buttons, while tailored shorts completed the eveningwear reference.

The look followed the glamorous night dress she had worn at the US Open and proved that Wimbledon’s strict palette could still accommodate a strong fashion idea. Its surprise came from tailoring and proportion rather than colour.
