Sharapova arrived at Wimbledon in 2007 with a Nike dress built around Swan Lake. She named the ballet as its inspiration in her June 23 press conference, even joking that her coach had tried feeding it bread. The front kept the idea restrained: white fabric, a low V-shaped neckline and a small teal Swoosh. Its theatrical character emerged through movement and the wing-like ruffles at the back.
The skirt paired a smooth upper flounce with a finely pleated lower tier, giving the white silhouette two different rhythms. Contemporary match photographs show how the ruffles lifted away from the fitted torso as she turned and served. This was a distinctive Sharapova tournament look, years before the wider Nike Maria Sharapova Collection arrived in 2010.
