The layered blue Melbourne dress introduced the Nike Maria Sharapova Collection in 2010. Its printed outer layer sits over a more fitted blue base, with bright waist accents drawing the two parts together. Sharapova presented the design before the Australian Open.
The print came from an earlier sketchbook idea. Unlike her exclusive tournament commissions, this design belonged to a wider collection worn by other players as well. Its place in the archive records that change in her role, from the wearer of special pieces to a collaborator on a broader line.
