The story behind the look

Sharapova’s 2007 Australian Open dress paired a corset-like grey bodice with a yellow wrap skirt. Black binding traced the neckline and hip, while a scrolling floral drawing spread across one side of the skirt.

The contrast came from the construction as much as the colours: a fitted, panelled upper half above a loose diagonal skirt. Sports Illustrated included the dress in its retrospective of her on-court fashion.
