Serena Williams’s 2004 Wimbledon Nike dress gave tennis whites a gladiator-style silhouette. Broad separated skirt tabs, tiny perforations and gold-toned waist details carried the design beyond a conventional pleated tennis dress.
Clive Brunskill photographed the look during her first-round match against Jie Zheng on June 22, 2004. The fitted scoop-neck bodice and slashed skirt are the defining features preserved in this reconstruction.
