Virgil Abloh and Nike created the Queen collection for Williams’s 2018 US Open. Its one-shoulder silhouette and layered tulle skirt brought ballet references into performance clothing, complete with Abloh’s recognisable typographic details.
Williams wore the black version in her opening match against Magda Linette. She had spoken about wanting to wear a tutu on court; the collaboration gave that wish a competitive stage.
