The story behind the look

Williams and Puma brought Cameroon’s football colours to the opening rounds of Roland-Garros in 2002. The green dress used yellow edging, narrow red accents and a national-team crest to make the sporting tribute explicit.

She later changed outfits during the tournament and won her first Roland-Garros singles title. This reconstruction records the early-round football-inspired dress, rather than the different garment she wore for the final.
