The little black champion
A curved white stripe cut through black on the way to a home Grand Slam title.
The story behind the look
A sweep of white runs from the scoop neckline down the front of Pierce’s black Nike dress. The fitted bodice and short, softly flared skirt make a graphic sporting version of the little black dress.
Pierce wore this black-and-white look during her 2000 Roland-Garros title run. She defeated Conchita Martínez in the final, becoming the first Frenchwoman to win the singles title since Françoise Dürr in 1967. She also won the doubles with Martina Hingis that year.
