The story behind the look

Osaka arrived for her first-round match against Antonia Ruzic in a jellyfish-inspired ensemble with a wide-brimmed hat, veil and parasol. She credited Robert Wun for the spectacular entrance look.

For the match itself, the outer pieces came off to reveal a mostly turquoise Nike kit. Butterfly details in the entrance ensemble recalled the butterfly that landed on Osaka during her title-winning 2021 Australian Open run. The reconstruction here focuses on the competition dress.
