White with a red zip

Textured white mesh and a tiny red zipper accompanied a Wimbledon title.

The story behind the look

Garbiñe Muguruza wore this white adidas by Stella McCartney Barricade dress at Wimbledon in 2017. The historical photograph shows her on 4 July, during the opening round. Eleven days later, she defeated Venus Williams 7–5, 6–0 in the final, winning her second major title in the same tournament design.

The collection drew on vintage white lingerie, using different knitting techniques to give a restricted palette texture. The dress combined a quarter zip with a small contrast pull and a keyhole at the back. Mesh and Climacool material made ventilation part of the visual language, while the narrow red zipper detail supplied a restrained accent.
