Olga Morozova · 1974
Ballet below the hips
A long fitted bodice releases into a wide lace skirt.
The story behind the look
Ahead of Wimbledon in 1974, Ted Tinling approached Morozova at Eastbourne and offered to design for her. She later remembered his proposal for a ballerina dress with frills as a sign that she had arrived.
The fitted sleeveless bodice extends below the waist before opening into a wide, lace-textured skirt. Morozova reached the Wimbledon singles final that summer, having already reached the French Open final.
