The story behind the look

Gauff explained after her first-round win over Sofia Kenin that the cut-outs were inspired by female Marvel superheroes. The pale bodysuit and asymmetric cargo skirt combined an athletic base with a distinctly utilitarian outer layer.

The rear photograph documents the large open-back shape and bright horizontal strap. Both reconstructions show the playing kit alone, without the camouflage warm-up jacket or accessories.
